A series of 6 creative writing and art workshop programs for 90 children aged 9-14 years in the Wollongong City Council area, to improve their writing and illustration skills and provide opportunities to share their creative work with the broader community.
Targeted support through the ‘Sticking Together Project’ for young adults in Port Kembla to improve vocational soft skills, understanding of workplace responsibilities and the development of a sense of community and cultural connection.
Creation of an outdoor ‘living’ Science laboratory incorporating native vegetation, native sting-less bees and compost worm farming, providing students with practical experience in permaculture.
Provision of compost bins and classroom caddies for recycling stations to be installed in all school classrooms, play areas and staff rooms.
Increasing First Nations player coaching and participation in a culturally safe learning environment within the Randwick Netball and St George Netball Associations.
Construction of an additional lease-free community garden bed for local residents to grow their own food and spend time in nature.
Improving Club resources so that children can participate in safe Scout excursions in addition to preparing for relevant Scout and Cub awards programs.
Creation of a food forest to provide a safe space for intergenerational and multicultural friendships to blossom. With food insecurity being a reality for parts of the student population, the food forest will be a place to share knowledge and stories, investing positively in the future of the community.
Installation of a digital scoreboard at the Club’s playing field to support the retention of talent, to help the Club attract senior games and to increase community attendance and support.
A community spirit program empowering young players to engage in community outreach with the goal of positively impacting youth, elderly and disadvantaged community members across South Eastern Sydney and Sydney’s Inner West.
Provision of 8 additional syringe drivers (vital medical devices for at-home patient care) and complementary care packages, enabling cancer patients the ability to have their symptoms managed in the comfort of their homes, surrounded by family and carers.
Installation of new commercial ovens, extra freezer capacity and more ergonomic workspace for volunteers to enable the preparation of approx. 200 additional meals per week, facilitating a potential 75% increase in output.
A program to support young people in the Port Kembla community to reach educational milestones by transitioning successfully to high school. Young people will experience peer mentor training and will be supported to develop the necessary skills to cope with change, building resilience and wellbeing. Resource toolkits are also provided for families to enhance support.
A homeless care and support evening in the Strathfield South area to provide hot drinks, food and clothing for local vulnerable people.
