The Enfield Intermodal Logistics Centre is an intermodal terminal and warehousing facility, centrally located just 15km west of Sydney's CBD. 

Close to industrial lands, it offers direct and daily connections into Port Botany on dedicated freight-only rail, and rail connections to regional areas of New South Wales. Enfield Intermodal Logistics Centre is being developed as a key logistics hub to support Sydney's growing container transport needs.

Facilities

The Enfield Intermodal Logistics Centre occupies 60 hectares close to industrial lands in central and western Sydney. The centre provides a direct freight rail connection to Port Botany and includes an intermodal terminal, empty container storage and industrial lots for logistics, freight forwarding, packing and unpacking, transport and warehousing.

Container Terminals

Intermodal Terminal

The Intermodal Terminal commenced operations in 2016 and is operated by Swift Intermodal. It provides a full range of container services including full and empty container storage, washing and upgrades. 

Enfield Intermodal Terminal features: 

  • Dedicated freight rail link to Port Botany and rail connection to the national network
  • Accommodates 900 metre trains 
  • 1,800 metres of throughline for the management of longer trains
  • 14 hectares Intermodal Terminal 
  • 46 hectares operational land
  • Empty container storage facilities

Warehousing and facilities

The Enfield Intermodal Logistics Centre is being developed as a key logistics hub with industrial lots for logistics, freight forwarding, pack-unpack, transport and warehousing. Staged construction of 14 warehouse buildings across eight precincts commenced in mid-2018 with 8 completed as at mid-2020.

Features: 

  • Approximately 66,000m2 land for light industrial and commercial use 
  • Perfect for companies with fast moving and time sensitive goods, that need quick and easy accessibility to Sydney's CBD
  • All warehouses incorporate sustainable development features including rainwater collection tanks, solar hot water systems, low volatile organic compound paints, carpets and sealants, LED lighting, translucent roof and wall sheeting to increase natural light and save electricity and low-maintenance vegetation that supports local biodiversity.

Community

NSW Ports is committed to working in partnership with the communities living in and around Enfield and the wider Strathfield area: 

  • We engage with the community through our Enfield Community Liaison Committee on a quarterly basis and provide regular updates through our community news and notifications.
  • We support a range of community initiatives in the local area and in 2017 officially opened the Enfield Intermodal Lookout, a recreational area for the community to enjoy views across the precinct and learn about the history of the site.

Environment

We are committed to supporting and maintaining the natural environment values of Enfield Intermodal Logistics Centre and to actively conserve ecological and cultural heritage values for the benefit of current and future generations.

This includes: 

  • Conservation and maintenance of surrounding wetlands and habitat for the Green and Golden Bell Frog.
  • Active maintenance of locally significant heritage items including the Tarpaulin Factory and the Pillar Water Tank.

Project Compliance

NSW Ports is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Conditions of Approval for a number of Major Projects, including the Enfield Intermodal Logistics Centre.

These conditions set out requirements for the environmental management of the construction and operation of the facility and for ongoing community engagement. We maintain an activity dialogue with regulators and local residents to ensure management practices are in line with legal requirements and community expectations.
