Community Sponsorships

NSW Ports is an active partner and longtime supporter of many not-for-profit and grassroots organisations located within the reach of our assets.

Our community investment program is focused on building a better future by financing sustainable initiatives, educational initiatives, not-for-profit and club operations, education programs and much more. Through strategic investment we aim to help build strong and inclusive communities able to thrive over the long term.

How our support makes a difference

Conservation Volunteers

Conservation Volunteers Australia

NSW Ports is a key supporter of Conservation Volunteers' 'Revive our Wetlands program', sponsoring environmental conservation and community engagement activities at Sir Joseph Banks Park, Botany for a term of six years, 2018 – 2024.

"Thanks to the ongoing support of NSW Ports, over 500 volunteers have been able to make considerable and sustained improvement to the biodiversity and ecological function of Sir Joseph Banks Park for the betterment of both the local community and environment. The project has been incredibly popular with volunteers and it has been very rewarding to witness the dramatic transformation of the site, from a weed-ridden landscape towards a vegetation community representing the once endemic and now critically endangered Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub."

Permaculture Partners - Living Classroom Program

Permaculture Partners - Living Classroom Program

Permaculture Partners is a practical educational program to provide both primary and high school students with the skills and resources to construct 'living classrooms' in which organic food is grown, prepared and consumed. NSW Ports provides funding to resource the school gardens, which are on the doorstep of our Port Kembla operations.

Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club

Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club

Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club relies on volunteer members to join and undertake a range of awards and qualifications and carry out beach patrols during the summer. The club is also focused on educating children through the Nipper program. As a platinum sponsor of the club, our sponsorship funding goes towards club operations, the purchase of life saving boats, clothing and equipment, life rafts for use in state-wide competitions and more.

"NSW Ports partnership with Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club has enabled our members to receive the highest surf rescue training possible using modern capable surf equipment... a win for our club and the community, who we protect on our surf beach"

Danny, Club President (July 2020)

Mission to Seafarers

Mission to Seafarers

NSW Ports contributes annual donations to the Sydney Mission to Seafarers branch and the Port Kembla Mission to Seafarers branch. The money donated goes towards the running and servicing of mini buses to ferry seafarers to and from port where they can have access to hot meals, wifi and networking opportunities. We are proud to support this organisation which takes care of our visiting seafarer colleagues, who play a key role in the ongoing operation of global shipping supply chains.

Port Kembla Surf Life Saving Club

Port Kembla Surf Life Saving Club

In February 2020 we announced our ongoing commitment to supporting Port Kembla's volunteer surf lifesavers, with an extended contract that will take our long-term partnership with Port Kembla Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) to a milestone of 20 years.

"The funds provided by NSW Ports have allowed us to maintain a high level of surf rescue patrols at Port Kembla Beach and will assist in the future growth of our junior membership."

David, Club President (July 2020)

South Maroubra SLSC

South Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club

In December 2019 we announced a three year partnership with South Maroubra SLSC to support the club in keeping the community safe in the coastal areas surrounding Port Botany's operations. The funding is being put towards ongoing operations, training and equipment, including a brand new surf boat.

"NSW Ports has been a wonderful Corporate Sponsor that fits nicely into the Surf Life Saving space given we are a local aquatic based volunteer rescue organisation that encourages surf sports to enhance the rescue capability of our lifesavers. Funding provided by NSW Port is directed to a range of activities including helping to sustain our lifesaving presence on Maroubra Beach."

Paul, Club President (July 2020)
